Frequently asked questions about damage deposits

We understand you might have questions about the damage deposit. Here, we address the most common inquiries to ensure you have all the information before your stay with us.

Could you explain why guests need to pay a damage deposit when they rent a room at your Townhouse?

The damage deposit covers any damages to the property or its contents. If the value of the damage or breakage exceeds this amount, guests will have to pay the remaining cost straight away for any necessary repairs or replacements. For a 2-night booking, the deposit is £200. For bookings of more than 2 nights, it is £300.

What is the typical amount you ask for as a damage deposit, and is it a fixed amount for all rooms?

When a couple rents a room, they will be using the kitchen, bathroom, terrace, utility room, living room with TV and Wi-Fi, and various furniture. Therefore, the amount of the damage deposit depends on the length of your stay. For 2 nights, it is £200. For more than 2 nights, it is £300.

How do guests get their damage deposit back after their stay, and how long does this usually take?

Guests provide the damage deposit in cash on arrival when they receive the keys. The deposit is returned in cash upon departure, provided everything is in order when they hand back the keys.

What kind of damage or issues would lead to you keeping some or all of the damage deposit?

Damage or breakage to the TV, Wi-Fi, sofas, any furniture, cutlery, plates, kitchen appliances (including the washing machine), the front door of the property, locks anywhere on the property, anything in the bathroom, windows, drawing on paintwork, or any cause of damage to roofs, walls, or the interior of the property could result in the forfeiture of some or all of the damage deposit.
